Not at all! Dramatherapy isn’t necessarily about learning or improving skills. It is about using creativity to see different angles and nuances of a situation or theme.
If you feel drawn to DT then that’s a good indication it could be for you! It can be for anyone! However DT can also be helpful if you find talk difficult or limiting, if you feel stuck in talking loops in therapy or if you are interested in exploring unconscious thoughts and feelings as well.
I work with a Child Centered Play Therapy model alongside children younger than 8 and will often utilize other creative arts therapies in my practice. Additionally I enjoy nature based arts therapy practice.
This is a sort of intentionally vague title because it means I can do lots of different things! Usually though it involves me working with a group of people and creating a piece of work (theatre, art, poetry etc). I will use my facilitation and arts skills to help structure and invite contribution but the work is that of the participants. I have worked with care experienced persons, disabled groups and queer groups amongst others.
You can contact me through the form in my contact me section and I will get back to you as soon as I can! If it sounds like something that aligns with my practice then I will try and arrange a 30 minute teams call with you to cover the initial idea and whether or not we would need more consultations. After this, if you want to move forward I will send you an initial rough quote of how much I would charge. We can then negotiate timings, hours and expenses and I will send you a final quote and contract.
You can use the contact form if you’re not too sure if I would be a good fit and we can arrange a short call or chat. If you want to go ahead and book an assessment then the Craig Dunn website is here.
